Chase First Banking is a banking account for kids ages 6-17 and designed with kids 6-12 in mind, opened by parents, that helps families digitally manage spending and provides opportunities for kids to learn and practice the basics of money management by using a debit card in their name. It can be accessed virtually anywhere with the Chase Mobile® appSame page link to footnote reference1 or on chase.com.
Chase First Banking accounts come with a number of unique features for both parents and kids.
Parents can:
- Choose where and how much their child can spend in stores and online
- Create kids' allowances
- Assign chores

- Set limits on where and how much their child can spend or withdraw at ATMs
And kids can:
- Use their debit card to make purchases at stores and online
- Track their balances and transactions with the Chase Mobile® app
- Create savings goals
- Withdraw money from ATMs using their Chase First Banking debit card (at participating non-Chase ATMs; fees from Chase and the ATM owner still apply)
- Learn how to manage their money in real-world scenarios
Once you have opened your Chase First Banking account, the debit card should arrive in the mail in about a week. To activate the Chase First Banking debit card visit chase.com/activateopens in a new window, call 1-800-290-3935 or make a transaction at any Chase ATM. Your child can request money in the Chase Mobile® app or on chase.comopens in a new window. They can select the dollar amount, enter where they want the money to be transferred and leave a note with what they’re requesting money for.
Yes, you need to be a Chase checking customer to open a Chase First Banking account. Chase First Banking accounts must be linked to a qualifying Chase checking account, but your child will not have access to your other Chase accounts.
Qualifying accounts include: Chase Secure CheckingSM Opens in a new window, Chase Total Checking® Opens in a new window, Chase Premier Plus CheckingSM Opens in a new window, or Chase Private Client CheckingSM Opens in a new window. Benefits offered to these checking accounts do not apply to Chase First Banking accounts.
Chase First Banking is available for kids ages 6-17 and designed with kids ages 6-12 in mind.

Chase customers who have a qualifying checking account can open up to five Chase First Banking accounts per parent/guardian. You can call 1-800-935-9935 to speak with a specialist. You can also schedule a meeting Opens in a new window with a Chase banker or visit any Chase branch.
You and your child can access Chase First Banking by signing in to the Chase Mobile® app. You can help them sign in using the username and password you created when you opened the account. This will not give your child access to your other Chase accounts.
Your child can request money in the Chase Mobile® app or on chase.comopens in a new window. They can select the dollar amount, enter where they want the money to be transferred and leave a note with what they’re requesting money for.
Chase High School Checking is for students ages 13-17 at account opening with their parent/guardian as a co-owner. The parent must have an existing qualifying Chase checking account which must be linked to the High School Checking account. Qualifying accounts exclude Chase High School Checking, Chase College Checking, Chase Secure Checking and Chase First Checking.
High School Checking has no monthly service fee. Standard Overdraft Practice and Chase Debit Card CoverageSM aren't available.
To open an account in the branch, students must have a parent or guardian with them. The parent or guardian must have a qualifying checking account. Qualifying accounts exclude Chase High School Checking, Chase College Checking, Chase Secure Checking and Chase First Checking.

Non-U.S. citizens can open a Chase High School CheckingSM account in any Chase branch with a Passport with photo and the Student INS I-20 or ICE I-20 form OR Passport with photo and the DS-2019 form. Non-U.S. students also need a residential address and a parent or legal guardian.
When the student turns 19, their Chase High School Checking account will convert to a Chase Total Checking account. The parent/guardian from the Chase High School Checking account will remain as a co-owner of the Chase Total Checking account unless removed.
Chase Secure Banking is a simple, convenient checking account with no overdraft fees and requires no minimum deposit to get started. Moreover, there are no fees on most everyday transactions like money orders, cashier’s checks, when you cash checks, send money using Zelle® or use a Chase ATM.
- You can download the Chase Mobile app and manage your money, deposit checks and pay bills or people from virtually anywhere.
- With Chase Secure Banking get that “just paid” feeling up to two business days sooner with early direct deposit.
With Chase Secure Banking, you can receive your eligible direct deposits up to two business days early. If you're already set up for direct deposit, you'll be automatically enrolled. If you haven't set it up yet, you'll need to set up direct deposit to your account.
There are no overdraft fees with a Chase Secure Banking account. We help you spend only what you have without worrying about overdraft fees.
You can avoid the $4.95 Monthly Service Fee by having ONE of the following each monthly statement period:
- $250+ in qualifying electronic deposits
- An account owner who is 17-24 years old
